(e) Damian Jurt is Curator at the Bündner Kunstmuseum in Chur, Switzerland. This managerial function involves curating exhibitions, publishing publications, collections management, and realizing education programmes for adults. From 2014 to 2019 he was Associate Curator at the Kunsthaus Pasquart in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. From 2008 to 2014 he has been a research associate at the Art Institute of the Basel Academy of Art and Design and has curated exhibitions and symposiums in institutions like the City Gallery (Loge) in Bern, the Kunsthalle Fridericianum Kassel, Museum of Art Lucerne. He is author and editor of numerous publication.
Damian Jurt belongs to a generation that considers the role of the curator to be broad and varied. His curatorial approach consists in proposing institutional situations in which the multidisciplinary dimension of socio-critical art can intervene. This concept flows into exhibitions, texts, talks and lectures. He has curated exhibitions of works by artists such as Julius von Bismarck, Ludovica Carbotta, Kemang Wa Lehulere, Céline Condorelli, Ludovica Carbotta, Vito Acconci, Andriu Deplazes, Aernout Mik, Yuri Ancarani, Donatella Bernardi, Julian Rosefeldt, Mariam Cahn, Michael Sailstorfer, Maria Serebriakova, Aram Bartholl, Delphine Reist or Roland Roos.
He studied at the Geneva University of Art and Design Arts (Diplôme HEA en arts visuels) and at the School of Visual Arts in New York. In 2009 he completed the Postgraduate Programme in Curating at the Zurich University of the Arts (MAS in Curating). From 2010 to 2012 he studied at the Research-Based Master Programme, CCC – Critical Curatorial Cybermedia, Geneva University of Art and Design (M.A. in Critical Curatorial Cybermedia Studies).
